Review: Brimstone

Brimstone Brimstone by Callie Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This sequel really cranked up the intensity and still kept me fully invested from start to finish. While it did not quite hit the same high for me as the first installment, I still genuinely enjoyed the experience and never felt like putting it down.

We get a lot more clarity in this one, and the world feels like it opens up in a really exciting way. The magic system feels deeper and more layered, and the characters continue to grow in ways that kept me intrigued. Secrets begin to unravel at a steady pace, and there are plenty of shocking reveals that change everything you thought you knew.

There are also major choices and shifting alliances that make the stakes feel even higher, along with some deals that had me pausing just to process what was happening. It is chaotic in the best way, packed with emotion, tension, and plenty of spice woven throughout.

That ending left me completely stunned, and now the wait for the next installment feels impossible.

Review: West of Wicked

West of Wicked West of Wicked by Nikki St. Crowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I devoured this authors Lost Boys series and when I saw this I knew I had to pick it up. Sadly, I did not enjoy this one as much as I was hoping. I felt like I had been dropped into the story without a lot of explication. I wished that this would have started further into the story like the Lost Boys had. Right on the action instead of getting back story that I don't think we needed.

Review: Death's Daughter

Death's Daughter Death's Daughter by S.A. Barnes
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This audiobook just didn’t work for me and ended up being a DNF. The premise had so much potential with dark academia and mythology vibes, but I couldn’t connect with the execution or the characters. I kept waiting for it to pull me in, but it never really clicked, and I lost interest pretty quickly. The narration was fine, but it couldn’t save the story for me. Not my read.
