Review: A Far Wilder Magic

A Far Wilder Magic A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Another amazing story where the characters kill everything. I wanted to love this one to the last page but sadly I just kind of feel like this one is a take it or leave it title. The story itself was wonderful but the characters were just kind of meh.

Review: Edgewood

Edgewood Edgewood by Kristen Ciccarelli
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I wanted to love this one but it just didn't work out. I felt that the writing and story was closer to juvenile fiction vs. young adult. And there isn't anything wrong with that. But I tend to read more mid to higher ya. I think this would work great as a transmission book for those moving from juvenile to young adult.

Review: This Golden State

This Golden State This Golden State by Marit Weisenberg
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Suspense, truth, and page turning mystery is what readers will find in this story. I was so pulled in I could not put it down. I loved the characters and the feel. The pacing was wonderful and I just loved the mystery surrounding the story at large.

Review: Blood Heir

Blood Heir Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

It's you not me. This book started out so well! I was engaged, I was hooked! Then it came for the core of the story to start and I was bored out of my mind. I was like it would have been better if the Moon bear would have attacked them in the woods. The rest of the story was so slow and boring that I wouldn't have cared if all the characters died a horrible death.

Review: Red Tigress

Red Tigress Red Tigress by Amélie Wen Zhao
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Yes I know why try a book where you DNFed book one? Well I am a stickler for punishment and I always try to give authors another try. So this one did a little better than book one. I will say that it picked up a smidge but it still lacked that overall arc that we usually see in books. Towards the middle it kind of fizzed out and just got boring. I think that this author is working towards finding her jam since this is only her second book. So I look forward to her further stories.

Review: The Bone Maker

The Bone Maker The Bone Maker by Sarah Beth Durst
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

So ive hated all of Sarah Beth Durst's young adult novel. And funny enough I have LOVED all of her adult titles. Go figure with that. So I was super excited to read this one. But then that love became not so lovable once this story got going. I found that the start of this one was great and suspenseful but once it really got started on the core story it just fell apart for me. I found I was bored and was putting the story down on more than one occasion.

I wish that the publisher would have Durst continue her Queens of Renthia series over something new because those (even the spin off) was amazing! We need more!!

Review: War Storm

War Storm War Storm by Victoria Aveyard
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

As much as I want to say Aveyard redeemed herself with this book I have to say it didn't happen. The ending of this book was horrible. It lacked the strength to do what it needed to do and I was seriously disappointed.

Review: To All the Dogs I've Loved Before

To All the Dogs I've Loved Before To All the Dogs I've Loved Before by Lizzie Shane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Super light read for book lovers. I loved the simple feel and this was a great book to pick up after reading a super heavy story. I think that this would be great to pick up to read at the beach or just to have something light to read where you know the ending is going to be HEA.

Review: Shattered Midnight

Shattered Midnight Shattered Midnight by Dhonielle Clayton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This idea of four stories from four different authors is genius! Each author so far has done something a little different and they are amazing. This book two was so good and I can not wait for the next installment. Romance, action, danger and a story you can't put down. I loved the setting and the descriptions made it come alive.

Review: The Lives of Diamond Bessie

The Lives of Diamond Bessie The Lives of Diamond Bessie by Jody Hadlock
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a powerful story that made me cry so hard. I felt so much for Annie and her situation. This reminded me a little of a movie that was out ages ago. I forget the title but its a classic. This story will haunt you until the very last pages and for much longer after you are done.

Review: Shock of Fate

Shock of Fate Shock of Fate by D.L. Armillei
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story starts right in the middle of things. And although usually I feel super lost when that happens. This one was actually pretty easy to follow. I loved how the story progressed but I have to say that it took a while for me to really care about the characters. I did enjoy how these teens really felt like teens. They made bad choices and had to learn things along the way. I think that the blend of fantasy and sci-fi was wonderfully done. And I am excited to check out the next title.

Review: Bound by Fate and Blood

Bound by Fate and Blood Bound by Fate and Blood by Jenna O'Malley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting story that I surprisingly couldn't put down. It was well paced and had a ton of characters. I don't normally enjoy books with a glossy of any kind but this one was actually really good. I will say that early on in this story I was kind of lost but by the middle of this story I was hooked and I can not wait for the next one.
