I grabbed this one because the cover was plain gorgeous!! I mean look at that thing!!! But sadly that is where my enjoyment left with this one. I have to say that the writing was not up to par. The characters were a mess and the insta lust and everything doing with the romance was just ugh.

Review: The Queen's Crown

The Queen's Crown The Queen's Crown by Jennifer Anne Davis
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was so on board with this one to start. But sadly once it really got started it fell apart and failed on all accounts. You have this beautiful story about a girl who is going to step in when her sister is murdered. She is head strong, sexy, and goes after what she wants. But then it gets going and instead of this woman we have been reading turns into a teenager that is scared of her own shadow. The character development needed worked out a lot better and this woman needed to figure out who she wanted to be. The world building was the best part of this one.

Triggers galore in this one that almost made me want to put this down. But I held on and man I loved it. I could not put it down after I started. This was so good.

Review: The Witch and the Vampire

The Witch and the Vampire The Witch and the Vampire by Francesca Flores
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

As much as I was hoping this one was going to be amazing I have to say it fell far from what I was looking for. It felt like for a lot of the story the stakes and outcomes and just the story at large was never big enough to really fill the plot fully. I wished that this would have been done for higher ya vs. the low ya we got. I wanted to love it so much but sadly it just didn't work out. I say that if you think this one might be for you to try it from the library.

Drama this book was full of it. Now I am not saying that was a bad thing but it really did kind of make the book slower than it needed to be. I enjoyed the characters and I might check out book two. But as this one sits I think it could have been better.

Review: Divine Rivals

Divine Rivals Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

As much as I loved Ross' other stories this one fell far the bar that I had set for them. This alternative WWII novel was one that felt off. The tech they had vs what they used vs what was going on around them all seemed disconnected with each other. I do not know what book other people are reading and loving this one because for me it was just a mess. The romance was weird and the story just was not up to par. This one for me was one that I should have DNFed.

All the Dead Lie Down All the Dead Lie Down by Kyrie McCauley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you are looking for a spooky story then this one fits the bill. I loved how this was dark and creepy and I think that readers are going to fall for this one hard. The sapphic romance was perfect for this plot, it built up a lot of tension as the story unfolded and I loved every page.

This young adult story was great. The romance wasn't as good as I was hoping for and parts of it sounded really toxic. The song Girls Like Girls that inspired this one is so spot on though. I have to say that I have a love/hate relationship with this story. But I would totally give it a try.

I love dystopian novels but this one was a drag. It was so slow and the characters were just not enough to save it. I did finish this one but man it was so slow and parts of the story felt all over the place.

Review: The Shadow Sister

The Shadow Sister The Shadow Sister by Lily Meade
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a very interesting story with an overall mystery that was very well thought out. I will say that the ending chapters felt rushed and not fully formed and I wish that the villain would have made more sense. Overall it was worth the read and I am glad this is not a series.

This was a very cute story with high stakes of well the end of the world. I loved the pacing of this one and the ending. It was just what I was looking for. This better not be only one book because that ending was killer and so hard to read. I need a book two ASAP as I need to know what is going to happen!!!

In a nutshell this was boring. I didn't care about any of the characters and the story was meh. I felt like this was more just going through the motions of being a book but really grabbing anything real.

This was like a mash up of all the young adult fantasy books from the early 2000's. I mean seriously there is no way you can't see it as you read it. I had to put it down and DNF this one because the borderline plagiarism is insane. How things like this get published is beyond me.

Review: A Study in Drowning

A Study in Drowning A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This dark academia was just what I was looking for to get back into school. I loved the darkness and themes of the folklore. This one will draw you into the story from the first few pages and you won't want to do anything else until you are done. The characters leap off the page and drag you into a spell binding tale that you will not want to miss.

This one could have been so much better. I mean you have these two amazing authors and this is what they give us? UGH (insert internal screaming here). I was so bored!! I should have DNFed this one but I have read everything these authors have done and I was so excited for this. But it was a full fail. The relationships felt forced and the story itself with the plot was just confusing and slow and I just didn't care about anyone.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have loved this authors writing since The Storm Crow and man am still a fan!! This one was a fabulous story that I couldn't put down. I loved the feel of the tale and the setting. The characters were all there with all the feels and man I need the next one now!! I really hope that Josephson sometime in the future does some kind of New Adult Fantasy because man this couldn't have been any better other than with a hint of spice.
