Master of Iron by Tricia Levenseller is a thrilling sequel filled with action, heart, and strong character development. The world-building is immersive, and the blend of romance and adventure kept me turning the pages. The heroine’s strength and determination shine, making this a gripping and satisfying read. Review: The Theft of Sunlight

The Theft of Sunlight The Theft of Sunlight by Intisar Khanani
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read the little novella and then dived into this one and I was hooked from page one. I love how Khanani's stories just pull you into from the very start. I loved every pages of this story and I can not wait to see what else this author has in store! ~UR

Thorn Thorn by Intisar Khanani
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A princess, a king, a talking horse, and magic!! I loved everything about this story!! After reading Brambles I knew I had to read this one and luckily enough I had it on hand and I am so glad that I did. I read this over a few days and fell in love with the story. It had some great twists and turns and one killer ending. This is a must read for any fantasy reader.

Review: Wake the Bones

Wake the Bones Wake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Although this wasn't a bad story it wasn't anything to really call home about or rave for. It had a good start, a middle, and an ending. The entire horror aspect kind of felt like it was in the background to the characters. So I would really call this a contemporary horror. If you could really call it a horror at all.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was almost perfect! There are a few things that I wish would have been different, but overall what a great read. I loved the story and how Italian culture was incorporated. The pacing was great, the love story was adorable, and watching the character development grow throughout this book was amazing. I can't wait to read the second one! ~TS

The Song That Moves the Sun The Song That Moves the Sun by Anna Bright
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I fear readers may not understand all the magical elements that lie within this story and I think the author did a lot. It was kind of a magical overload for me reading this one. And I ended up having to put it down and just never picked it up again. For me this one was just to much going on and to much to have to keep track of.

Blood and Moonlight Blood and Moonlight by Erin Beaty
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I was so excited for this book for this book and then winning a copy I was over the moon. But once I really started reading this one sadly that is where the enjoyment ending. I found that this book was super slow and very confusing. There was ton of info dumping that felt very out of place and I really just didn't care about the character.

Review: The Dream Runners

The Dream Runners The Dream Runners by Shveta Thakrar
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

My second DNF of 2023 and this one I am so sad about because it sounded amazing. Unfortunately this was another one that I just thought was kind of boring and slow. It started off with this girl who was stealing dreams and obsessed with a bracelet. And the writing felt more like high middle grade, low young adult vs. a high ya that I usually read.

That being said I did read somewhat further into this one and it just felt super slow and started getting very repetitive.

Review: We All Fall Down

We All Fall Down We All Fall Down by Rose Szabo
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I started this one and early on felt that it just was not for me. I did not enjoy the story or the characters. The plot felt weak and the entire thing was just way to long. I think that this felt more for someone else that really enjoys this kind of story. For me I just kind of hated everything from the cover to the characters, the story, and plot. I am sure it will find its readership but for me that just is not it. I am not sure if I would ever try another title by this author. But never say never. The cover to this one was eye catching but after reading part of this one I just felt that it did not work for me or the story at all. I wanted to love this one but it just was not meant to be. I think that I should have DNFed it earlier than I did as I just was not enjoying the read. Do not waste your time on books you are not enjoying like I did. Call it quits and move on to something else. ~UR

Wow this was even better than book one. I loved this heartbreaking story and could not put it down. I think that I will totally have to keep an eye out for her next title. The shape-shifters and magic were some of the best I have read.

Really wanted to love the one but it was not for me. The characters were bland and not well formed and no one had a brain. There was a lot of repetition of lines and it just felt like this wasn't edited all that well. The story itself was subpar and really just needed a full redone. Not worth the read.

Review: My Vampire Plus-One

My Vampire Plus-One My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

In My Roommate Is a Vampire, the character of Reginald was introduced as the goofy frenemy. I was interested to see what hijinks he would get into in this book. My Vampire Plus-One was as unserious as the previous book, but I enjoy that on occasion. The mix of Reggie’s fun and Amelia’s regimented life was a good match. I liked them together. This book was a good palate cleanser, just like the previous one. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun story that doesn’t get stressful.
